Owen Beck pens a long-term Liverpool contract before joining Derby County on a season-long loan.

Welsh left?back Owen Beck has signed a new long?term contract with Liverpool FC (confirmed by liverpoolfc.com), and then joined Derby County on a season?long loan for the 2025-26 Championship season.

The 22?year?old defender came through Liverpool’s academy and has made three senior appearances for the Reds, including his Premier League debut during an injury crisis in January 2024, although his first-team debut for the Reds came way back in October 2021 during the Carabao Cup.

Last season, Beck spent 2024-25 on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he made 24 league appearances, scored once and contributed further assists.

Notably, 23 of those appearances came under the guidance of John Eustace, before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his campaign.

Beck’s strong working relationship with Eustace played a key role in his switch to Derby County, where he became the club’s first signing of the summer following Eustace’s appointment as manager.

Beck had previously enjoyed loan spells at Famalicao, Bolton Wanderers and Dundee, developing considerably while away from Anfield.

He impressed most notably during the 2023–24 season at Dundee — making 28 appearances, scoring twice, and earning a spot in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year (via The Courier (Scotland)), an accolade voted on by players themselves.

“Owen is a super talent,” Jurgen Klopp once said, praising the youngster’s progress and maturity during his loan spells, especially his standout stint at Dundee.

In a recent interview on RamsTV (via dcfc.co.uk), Beck emphasised that his primary aim for the upcoming campaign is to increase his goal contributions and assists, reflecting on a season at Blackburn where he recorded just one goal involvement across 24 league matches under John Eustace.

“Going forward, I like to get goals and assists.

It’s definitely somewhere where I feel like I can improve on from last year.”

With Liverpool coaches and Derby fans alike watching keenly, he will be hoping to build on his Scottish and Championship experience and make a tangible impact in the Championship next season.
